The streets of New York were busy all the time, every hour of the day there were people and cars zooming past, late for life. The city had a high-speed appeal to it and no one ever stopped to gather their thoughts. Lights were turning colors, red, yellow, green. Shop keepers were rushing to please their customers through the windows, on the streets, people practically pushed each other over to continue in their path.
In the middle of the sidewalk, three girls stood out like a beacon in the night. Not because they were identical triplets, but because they were simply standing there, watching the crowd. Backs to each other, the girls looked out in three different directions, staring without saying a word. It was highly unusual, but in New York, nothing was normal.
With LA-blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, the girls didn't quite have the professional New Yorker look to them. Then there were the outfits, the school-girl costume with the white shirt, plaid skirt and completed by the black-wedged heels and dark suspenders. One would almost assume that some singer was shooting a pop music video, and these were the extras. However, anyone who knew the Cuckoos, knew that they were no extras, these girls took center stage every time.
People are always in such a rush. It's like they have no time to stroll down the street and appreciate anything. Humans take times of peace for granted, one day it will all disappear. Maybe we should give them a reason to stick around?
Words flew through the minds of the girls, back and forth as quickly as they could snap their fingers. The familiar sense of belonging came over the girls as their minds linked together, their eyes fading into an eerie glowing white. Cleverly concealed from the humans, the girls masked their eerie appearance, appearing just as 'normal' as they did minutes ago.
Telepathic minds reached out, grasping each and every mind they could. From Mindee's memories, soft piano keys came together to form a slow and classical melody. People stopped, they looked around and around in an effort to find the source of the music. Mindee 'played' to the crowded New York street, enjoying their attention to her music.
